RHINOPLASTY-"CHANGING TRENDS"

The nose occupies the central portion of face and is the most prominent part of it.A deformed nose draws attention to the face ignoring other facial features.Improvement in the shape of the nose significantly changes the whole facial appearance. No wonder even today Rhinoplasty is the most commonly performed cosmetic surgery, the world over.

20 years ago when I started taking interested in Rhinoplasty Information, there were very few ENT units where this surgery was performed regularly.Today this operation is practiced routinely at many ENT departments. There is a definite change in patient profile as well.

Fineness Rhinoplasty is a precise plastic operation for improvement of less perceptible anatomic changes by delicate sculpturing reshaping and altering the minute anatomic relationship of the bony and cartilaginous nasal skeleton. The dynamics of healing has to be considered as well since a good looking nose on the operation table may not look so perfect in the last post-operative period if the changes during healing are not anticipated and compensated.

Proper patient selection is very important;an emotionally stable patient with not too thick or thin skin is a good candidate. The surgeon must refrain from suggesting the patient his idea of a good looking nose but listen carefully to his concerns and decide if what he wants is technically feasible.
