Lamasa is a Spanish kitchen craft. It makes use of dough that can be moulded into different shapes. It can be used to make magnet holders, decorative pieces such as fruits, flower baskets, dolls, teddy bears, etc. This work can also be done on photo-frames, mirrors, jharokas, key-chains.
Ingredients used are Lamasa dough, moulds to give shape, craft scissors, ready-made pollens, magnets, m-seal, fevicol.
To make the dough, Mix 1 cup corn-flour, 3/4th cup fevicol, 1 teaspoon Zinc Oxide, 1 teaspoon Lime Juice and 1 teaspoon Glycerine in an aluminum vessel and heat it stirring continuously so that no lumps are formed. After about 5-7 minutes after the dough has turned smooth with no watery contents, remove from fire and place it on a plate greased with some oil-based cold cream. Make balls by greasing your hands with cold cream. Keep these balls separately in airtight containers. According to the requirement, add oil paint/food colors of your choice in a small quantity of dough.
Now that the dough is ready, you can use it for making shapes of your choice. Once the Lamasa artwork is completed and dried, add one or two coats of varnish which will give it sheen and act as a protective coat.
